PTI dubs president, PM 'illegal' despite Zardari's call for ending polarisation
2024-04-19
[GEO.TV] In response to the "olive branch" extended by President Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
...former president of Pakistain, husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in...
in his maiden parliamentary address, PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan declared the head of the state "illegal".

His remarks came after President Zardari stressing the need for meaningful dialogues and called for political reconciliation to do away with the polarisation and overcome the challenges pervading the crisis-hit country.

Raising legal questions, the PTI leader, while referring the Article 41 of the Constitution, said the president represents the federation, adding that Zardari did not tender his resignation as the PPP co-chairman so far.

"Law is being violated in this House," the PTI leader said that he tired to raise a point being a leader of the opposition but he was denied the floor.

"As per the law, the floor is given to the opposition leader whenever he asks," he added.

For his part, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan termed their strong protest and ruckus in the joint session of parliament a "21-cannon salute" to the president.

"We do not recognise this president [Zardari]. [Not only] this president but Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the entire cabinet are also illegal."

He said: "At today’s session, we presented a 21-cannon salute to Zardari."

The PTI leader further said that they "compelled" President Zardari to leave his speech in the middle.

Glass wall has been installed at the meeting place of the PTI founder in the jail, he said, adding that today’s protest was their democratic right.

"We will fulfil our responsibility within the ambit of the Constitution and the law," he

KP Assembly members take oath in ruckus-hit maiden session
2024-02-29
[GEO.TV] Newly-elected members of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly were sworn in on Wednesday in the maiden session that began after a delay of over an hour, due to a ruckus caused by Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

(PTI) workers in the legislature, reported Geo News on Wednesday.

The session had to begin at 11am but was delayed as the elected politicians were facing difficulty in entering the assembly hall as multiple PTI workers tried entering the floor and even threw a "lota" and a shoe at Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz's (PML-N) Sobia Shahid.
A "lota" is a "portable bidet," a jug that can be used for butt scrubbies.
Later, outgoing Speaker Mushtaq Ghani administered oath to 116 newly elected politicians, which included 111 members who won the general seats, and five reserved seats members, in presence of heavy police party outside the assembly in the light of Awami National Party

It may be noted that the KP Assembly consists of 145 members, 115 general seats and 30 reserved seats — 26 for women and four for minorities. However,

25 of the reserved seats have not been notified yet as the matter is currently being heard by the Election Commission of Pakistain (ECP).

Meanwhile,

two of the general seats remain vacant as elections on these two were deferred owing to the deaths of candidates in the respective constituencies.

Once the oath was administered, Speaker Ghani announced that the election for the new speaker and deputy speaker of the House would be held tomorrow (February 29).

The MPAs willing to contest for the coveted slot will have time till 5pm today to submit their nomination papers while those willing to withdraw from the polls can take back their papers by midnight, said the speaker.

"Polling for the speaker and deputy speaker election will be held tomorrow at 10am," announced Speaker Ghani.

PTI founder Imran Khan

PTI Secretary Gneral Omar Ayub Khan announced today that PTI founder Imran Khan has now nominated Babar Salim Swati as the candidate for the KP Assembly speaker.

'Puppet being used to defame Pakistan globally,' Sanaullah slams Imran for hiring UK lawyer
2023-09-04
[GEO.TV] Amid reports that former prime minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
hired a UK-based lawyer to represent him in international courts, Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and ex-interior minister Rana Sanaullah said Sunday that a "puppet is being used to defame Pakistain globally".
"That's OUR job!"
"Going to the International Court of Justice means making Pakistain stand in the global dock as a criminal," the senior PML-N leader said adding that only enemies of Pakistain could do this despicable act.

On September 1, Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) announced on its official X — formerly known as Twitter — account: "PTI chairman and former PM Imran Khan has appointed the eminent human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
Barrister Geoffrey Robertson KC of Doughty Street Chambers to advise and represent him in international courts in relation to unlawful detention and human rights abuses."

A PTI source in Islamabad said that the decision to hire Robertson was taken by Khan on the advice of Omar Ayub Khan, Zulfi Bukhari and his lawyers in Pakistain after consulting "some important people in the UK".

Subsequently, on September 2, PTI revoked the services of Geoffrey Robertson KC after backlash and severe criticism in the media.

Doughty Street Chambers said it has been told by PTI that Robertson’s services will not be required due to criticism in Pakistain.

In a statement today, Sanaullah took a jibe at Khan saying the "blue-eyed" of the judicial system did not need to go abroad.

"Who is spending money on Imran Niazi?" the former interior minister asked. "Those he works for are trying to save him. First, they made him a hero, gave him foreign funding and brought him to power after which Pakistain’s economy and foreign relations were destroyed."

He further said that the path to civil war was paved through inflation whereas the minds of the youth were filled with "gunpowder so that could attack when and where they wanted".

Furthermore, Sanaullah said that occupants of Paleostine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
(IIOJK) were jubilant when they found out that Pakistain would be taken to international court.

As soon as PTI announced it had hired Robertson there was a lot of criticism in the media that the lawyer has been involved in campaigns against the Pak military, propagating false theories about the 1971 war and the breakup of Bangladesh from Pakistain.

In August, PTI announced it revoked engagements of UK solicitor Rashad Yaqoob, his organization Human Rights Legal Aid Foundation (HRLAF) and Azhar Siddique, the Pakistain Supreme Court lawyer who is now based in Manchester.

The situation remains tense as the authorities search for the perpetrators behind the attacks and try to bring justice to the families of the martyred.

In an interview with senior journalist Hamid Mir on the Geo News programme "Capital Talk" on Friday, the former president had said Khalilzad is a "double agent" who was on "a payroll".

In response, the former president said that Khalilzad was a salaried person. "He is in a lobby and an agent. A double agent of CIA [Central Intelligence Agency]."

When asked about the negative things Khalilzad had written about Zardari in his book, he said: "Of course, why would he write anything good about me? They can’t tolerate anyone who has roots in the country, can save the country, or loves it. Obviously, he won’t write anything nice."

In response to this, the former US envoy took to Twitter and wrote: "Responding to Pakistain's "Mr. 10 Percent": I do not lobby for anyone or any country and am no one's agent. I have shared my sincere concern about Pakistain's triple crisis, which unfortunately is intensifying, and have suggested what should be done. "Mr. Ten Percent" should put country first and honor BB's legacy, to preclude a meltdown that will hurt the 220 million people who — unlike him and others like him, do not own posh homes in several countries that they can run away to. The Pak establishment and the country's politicians must commit to rule of law, starting by not splitting the Supreme Court, but instead, implementing its decisions."

The case was registered under various sections of 10 crimes including terrorism against arrested PTI workers and wanted party leaders.

About 17 leaders including Ali Amin Gandapur, Murad Saeed, Aamir Mehmood Kiani, Asad Qaiser, Shibli Faraz, Asad Umar, Omar Ayub Khan, Ali Nawaz Awan, Hassaan Niazi were named in the first information report (FIR).

The FIR states that the workers damaged the police check post and the main gate of the judicial complex.

As many as 18 people were arrested for arson, pelting of stones and breaking the judicial complex's building, said the FIR.

"About two police vehicles and seven cycle of violences were burned, and the official vehicle of the station house officer (SHO) was damaged," it added.

The FIR also said that pistols, Rs20,000 and anti-riot kits of about eight coppers were also stolen, adding that the police arrest 20 people for vandalism, and burning state-owned vehicles.

Meanwhile,

Imran Khan came with hoards of people — who had wooden sticks and stones in their hands — from the opposite side of the road in violation of Section 144.

Why is Pakistan in perpetual instability?
2022-07-29
In addition to being Muslim, they mean? Isn’t being Pakistan enough of a reason?
[NEWAGEBD.NET] Since 1958, Pakistain’s political history has, time and again, been interrupted by her military generals, who exerted their might and discretely colluded with political parties. The first such intervention on part of its army was as early as 1958 when general Ayub Khan abolished the constitutional regime of 1956. Subsequently, the military staged three coups in October 1958, July 1977 and October 1999.

A most significant aspect of Pak politics is its total, unflinching commitment to the religion of Islam, which had served as the basis of seeking a nationhood in order to safeguard the interests of the Moslems in the Indian sub-continent. A recurrent theme in the military and civil life in Pakistain is that every citizen should be mindful of adhering to the principles and code of conduct prescribed in Islam. It is regarded as the way to safeguard and preserve one’s dignity and honour.

The former president, also former general, Zia ul Huq used to say that the gift of western education should not be considered an end in itself and that a Pak must not be merely ’a professional soldier, an engineer, or a doctor’, but must use this to become ’Moslem soldiers, Moslem generals, Moslem doctors, Moslem officers and Moslem men’. Thus, Islam became a core public policy in the state affairs, and Pakistain was officially declared an Islamic republic.

He said the removal of accountability judge Arshad Malik was an admission of the judge’s weakness on part of the judiciary.

‘Terrorists killed in Hayatabad were TTP members’
2019-05-08
[DAWN] A suspect tossed in the calaboose

Pakistain and had also planned to kill provincial ministers Shahram Tarakai and Atif Khan through a jacket wallah.

The disclosure was made by Yasir Shams in the confessional statement recorded with senior civil judge (judicial) Nasrullah Khan on May 4.

The suspect claimed that the alleged terrorists, including Tariq, Murad, Amjad, Irfan, Saeed and Feroze Shah, were known to him and were also involved in the attempt on the life of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. High Court judge Ayub Khan, who was critically injured in an attack in Hayatabad Township on Feb 28.

In the confessional statement, the suspect didn’t say that he was part of the TTP but insisted that he was aware of the activities of terrorists.

The alleged terrorists, including Murad, Tariq, Amjad and Feroze Shah, along with an Afghan citizen,

Imran Mohmand, were killed in the encounter, which began on the night of Apr 15 and ended the next day leaving a police officer and an army man martyred.

Suspect Saeed, who was reportedly arrested after the encounter injured, is in the police’s custody.

The suspect, a computer operator at a local company, claimed that he was present in a gathering a day before attack on Justice Ayub when Tariq, Amjad, Feroze Shah, Irfan and Saeed had finalised the liquidation plan.

He added that Saeed had been working on that plan for many months.

The suspect gave an interesting motive behind the attack on Justice Ayub claiming that the people wanted to kill the judge for acquitting Dr Shakil Afridi, who later went to the US, though the agency surgeon has never been acquitted and he continues to be behind bars.

The suspect said Tariq, Murad and Feroze Shah rode a cycle of violence carrying an automatic gun and pistols, whereas he (Yasir Shams) was in a car with the accused Irfan waiting at a distance from the place of attack.

He claimed that after firing at the vehicle of Justice Ayub, the three attackers approached them and Murad and Feroze Shah also boarded the car.

In the confessional statement, the suspect gave another interesting account of the botched attempt to kill Shahram Tarakai and Atif Khan.

"An event was organised by the ISF (Insaf Students Federation) of the PTI in Baghe Naran, where the PTI’s key leaders were invited. Amjad and Tariq had prepared an Afghan boy as a suicide bomber to target the event," he said.

The suspect said an explosive-laden cycle of violence was to be used by the suicide bomber for the terrorist activity but he met an accident on his way and thus, failing to reach the target.

"I and Saeed were walking around when we saw the suicide bomber with the cycle of violence," he said, adding that the bomber told them that he got scared after the cycle of violence hit a car.

"Those riding that car slapped the bomber after which he started pushing the cycle of violence instead of riding it and approaching the target," he said.

The suspect said the alleged Lions of Islam went to the Hayatabad Phase 7 house, which was destroyed by security forces after the encounter.

He said after reaching the house, the Lions of Islam abused each other.

The suspect said he repented his unlawful activities and sought forgiveness.

Earlier, a heated discussion took place on the child marriage bill which exposed a division even within the federal cabinet. Religious Affairs Minister Noorul Haq Qadri and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Khan strongly opposed the bill and termed it un-Islamic, whereas Human Rights Minister Dr Shireen Mazari argued in support of it and asked the deputy speaker to refer it to the committee.

The opposition Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP) was the only party whose members voted in support of the bill in unison as the members of the Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) also gave a divided vote.
